In 2024 our Senior School is made up of 4 classes- Kiwi Year 4- Tui & Takahe- Year 5/6 and Kakapo- Year 7/8.
Our senior students are the role models for our school and they take on leadership roles and have some extra responsibilities throughout the year.
The students in Year 5-8 are eligible to play a range of sports with the other schools in the ECCS (East Counties Country Schools) cluster. We aim to play two sports per term.
Students can opt into the teams throughout the year and we encourage everyone to give at least one sport per term a go. The ECCS sports days are a great way for parents and caregivers to get involved and come along to support.
Students in Year 7 & 8 attend Technology- hard materials, soft materials and food technology once a fortnight at Maramarua School. The students travel to Maramarua together on the bus once a fortnight and work with the specialist teachers there to create some amazing projects and experience the tech rooms.
Our young people are encouraged to take on leadership roles throughout the school. They can be Student Leaders, Awhina Leaders and Junior Ambassadors. Giving back to our school in these roles is an important part of building and fostering tuakana- teina relationships and also ensuring that our school is a safe place for all.
Students in Year 7 & 8 are also given the opportunity to learn Spanish- we have a very experienced specialist teacher, Mrs Viv Lee and she comes in once a week to teach Spanish.
